Welcome to my side of the 'net. I ruminate over music, books, movies, places, or people that have somehow made me what I am or continue to influence me to this day. I usually post links to mp3s of songs I find interesting.

Cap Hill BP Day 2 - 7/29/06
I woke up to a really bad hangover Saturday morning.  I had to take some meds and sleep it off.  It's good that I woke up early enough to hit town and see the bands I wanted to.

I got to the venue just in time to hear Slender Means do a really impressive cover of I Can't Hardly Wait (which was originally done by The Replacements for the uninitiated).  The song was a sign that there was a lot of stuff that I wanted to check out that evening was just about to begin, much to my anticipation.

Silversun Pickups played an awesome set.  For a band that I've only heard just one song out of KEXP, I was really blown away.  They played a tight set and brought it on with the intensity.  The crowd response was very enthusiastic as well.  The cuz met up with me while these guys were on stage.

The cuz and I had to then get a few beers and see Minus The Bear at their math-rock best from the beer garden where we were vibing off the odd time two-handed tapped rhythms on guitar.

After finishing off our Miller High Lifes, it was off to the Vera stage to hit up The Saturday Knights and their off-kilter collision of hip hop, funk, alt-rock, insert genre here.

Meandering around a bit after their set, we saw Smoosh at the porta-potties where a fan was getting her photo taken with them.  We also went back to the Vera stage to catch a little bit of Grayskul's sci-fi hip hop.  We were really gearing up for Sabzi and RA Scion do their thing and rock it as Common Market.  Lots of Murder City Devil fans showed lotsa love too.

Here are some featured songs from the acts listed above:
Lazy Eye - Silversun Pickups
Motorin' (live @ 107.7 The End) - Saturday Knights
Drop It Like It's Hot - Minus The Bear
Connect For - Common Market

That was quite the event of the weekend.
